Children’s Author N. L. Sharp is an educational writing consultant from Fremont, Nebraska. She is the author of several books for children, including Effie’s Image and the novel Keeping Captain, which was recently named the winner in the children’s novel category in Nebraska’s Center for the Book Awards Program.
Sharp writes realistic fiction based on true events from her life or the life of someone she knows. For example, her first picture book, Today I’m Going Fishing with My Dad, is based on the memory of taking her son fishing for the first time. Keeping Captain is drawn from the memory of moving to Ponca when her father, Charles Sharp, became the assistant superintendent at Ponca State Park. Miracles in the Snow, written by Sharp and illustrated by her sister, Corliss Sharp Hassler, from Emerson, details an experience their father had while working as a ranch hand in the Sandhills of Nebraska.
Besides being an author, Sharp is the owner and publisher of Prairieland Press, which boasts several Nebraska Center for the Book Award winners and honor books.
